About The Teacher:
Ms Robertson has been teaching English (and loving it) to junior high and high
school students for 36 years. She has been recognized at local, state, and
national levels with awards such as Santa Barbara County Teacher of the
Year (2000), California Teachers of English Award for Classroom Excellence
(2005), and National Board Certification (Early Adolescence and English
Language Arts, 2004). She is a Fellow of the South Coast Writing Project and
the South Coast Literature Project, as well as a MetLife Teachers Leadership
Network Fellow.
In addition to her work in the classroom, she is the GATE Site Coordinator for
SBJHS, and the Secondary District GATE Coordinator. Her love of writing is
demonstrated in her publications, including award winning articles in English
Journal, Voices From the Middle, and chapters in professional books for teachers
and textbooks for students.
Student writing is celebrated and recognized through two issues yearly of
Robertson's Writers. Writing and reading are the focus of every class, with a
goal of each student discovering their unique voices, and finding authors they love
to read.
Mission For The Class:
To promote the love of reading and writing, to facilitate the discovery of each
student's unique and individual voice, and to ensure that all students meet and
exceed standards.
